John

Relaxing on Man 'O War Cay, Bahamas

John began studying the physics of photography while in graduate school where he taught Optical Oceanography Lab as part of his teaching assistantship.  Many married years later, John would take countless photos on our family vacations using a point and shoot camera.  It was in 2012, when in preparation for his Tuscany trip with Greg, that John bought his first Canon gear.

John loves landscape photography and it shows in his images.  He says he loves everything about early morning photography minus the ‘getting up’ part.  He is slow (insult) and methodical (compliment), but his photos are technically excellent.

John also shoots with a Canon 5D Mk II.  His lenses include EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM,  EF 24mm f/1.4 L II USM,  EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM, EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM, EF 50mm f/1.2L USM, EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM, EF 85mm f/1.2L II USM, and EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM.  He uses Lee ND, GND, and polarizer filters, and a 190CXPRO3 carbon-fiber Manfrotto tripod with 410 Jr geared head.

When wanting to travel lighter, John like me, shoots with Panasonic gear.  This includes a Lumix GH4 body, with 12-35mm f/2.8, 35-100mm f/2.8, and 100-300mm f/4.0-5.6 lenses.  He uses Lee Seven5 ND, GND, and polarizer filters, and a MT057C4-G 057 Manfrotto tripod with 460MG 3D head.
